Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum calls for peace at Maulid celebration
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum led a government delegation to the annual Maulid celebration at Madinatu in the Jere Local Government Area. During the event, which commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, Zulum called on the Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for lasting peace in Nigeria and Borno State.
Addressing the Tijaniyya community, the Governor urged Islamic clerics to promote messages of unity and peace. He expressed his administration’s continued support for religious leaders as the state continues reconstruction efforts following years of insurgency. Khalifa Ahmed Abulfathi acknowledged the Governor’s contributions to Islam in the state during the proceedings.
Separately, Governor Zulum marked his 57th birthday on August 25, 2026. Observers noted his reputation as a ‘Workaphile’ due to his focus on coordinating reconstruction and addressing the needs of populations affected by terror in Borno State.
