Borussia Dortmund pushes for Said El Mala transfer as Konstantinos Karetsas joins

Borussia Dortmund is intensifying its pursuit of 19‑year‑old Said El Mala from 1. FC Köln. The club is reportedly preparing a new offer of around €40‑45 million, with a possible €10 million in bonuses, to meet Köln’s asking price that could rise to €50 million. A medical examination is expected in early August, and the player has expressed a strong desire to join Dortmund.

At the same time, Dortmund completed the signing of 18‑year‑old Konstantinos Karetsas from KRC Genk for a reported €30 million plus bonuses, after the Belgian club lowered its original €35 million demand. The player’s own willingness to accept the reduced fee helped the deal, and he took part in his first training session with the squad. The club’s sporting director Lars Ricken highlighted the importance of securing young offensive talent while maintaining financial prudence.

Dortmund’s transfer strategy also includes interest in other Greek prospects such as Giannis Konstantelias, indicating a broader focus on strengthening its attacking options ahead of the new season.
