Borussia Dortmund Japan tour: street soccer event and FC Tokyo friendly

Borussia Dortmund staged the "BVB Street Soccer Series" at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Plaza on 30 July 2026 as part of its Asian pre‑season tour. Eleven first‑team players – including Japanese forward Yamato Tenshō, Felix Nmecha, Joao Gadú, Alexander Meyer, Machis Albert, Enzo Dos Santos, Samuele Inácio, Jan Kout, Justin Lerma, Cyrus Ostrolinski and Arne Vessels – took part, interacting with more than 300 children in a youth football tournament and various soccer‑experience zones. The event featured a projection‑mapping show on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building.

The tour concluded with a friendly match against FC Tokyo on 1 August 2026 at the Japan National Stadium. The game, the final stop of Dortmund’s Asian preparations, was streamed free on DAZN, Sky, WOW and the club’s YouTube channel. On the same day, head coach Niko Kovač led a public shooting drill for his attacking players in Tokyo and instructed the squad to stay up late (until about 02:00) to lessen jet‑lag effects.

The activities highlighted Dortmund’s marketing push in Japan, provided direct fan engagement for thousands of children and showcased the club’s brand ahead of the new Bundesliga season.
