Alexander Blessin appointed head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach has appointed Alexander Blessin as their new head coach, signing him to a contract through June 2028. Blessin succeeds Eugen Polanski, who was dismissed following a historically poor start to the Bundesliga season, characterized by zero points and 16 goals conceded in the first four matches.

During his official introduction, Blessin emphasized the need for hard work and immediate results to stabilize the club. He confirmed that Tim Kleindienst will remain the team captain. Blessin previously managed FC St. Pauli and Union Saint-Gilloise, and his tenure begins during the international break, allowing him time to prepare for his competitive debut against FC Cologne on October 11.

Club leadership, including Head of Sports Rouven Schröder, expressed confidence in Blessin’s ability to lead the team through this difficult period. The new manager is expected to implement more rigorous training schedules and clear hierarchies to address the team's defensive vulnerabilities.
