Bose releases second-generation QuietComfort headphones

Bose has released the second generation of its QuietComfort headphones, offering a more affordable alternative to the premium QuietComfort Ultra model. Both models feature a foldable design and a 24-hour battery life.

The standard QuietComfort headphones provide strong active noise cancellation (ANC) capable of blocking significant ambient noise, such as subway sounds and city traffic, though they lack some of the advanced features found in the Ultra version. Users can adjust ANC levels via the Bose application.

The Ultra model distinguishes itself through several high-end technologies, including ‘CustomTune’ acoustic calibration, which adjusts audio and noise cancellation based on the user's ear shape. It also features ‘Immersive Audio’ for spatial sound processing and supports the Snapdragon Sound platform for higher-quality streaming on Android devices. While the standard model relies on traditional AAC and SBC codecs, the Ultra is designed for more advanced high-bitrate audio performance.
