Bosnia and Herzegovina strengthens economic ties with Austria

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković conducted a series of meetings in Austria focused on strengthening economic and social ties. During a visit to the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF), Konaković discussed leveraging the expertise and professional networks of the Bosnian diaspora to support development in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Key areas of cooperation include the labor market, education, qualification recognition, and youth exchange.

On the economic front, Konaković met with the Federation of Austrian Industry to discuss investment potential and the integration of Bosnian businesses into European value chains. This follows separate discussions in the Cazin region, where Austrian business representatives expressed interest in investing in the metal, wood processing, and IT sectors.

In a broader political context, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted a document regarding the country's progress in European integration to be submitted to the European Commission. Minister Konaković emphasized that while Bosnia and Herzegovina maintains diverse international relations, the European Union remains the country's primary economic partner.
