Bosnia and Herzegovina commemorates war victims in Ilidza and Goražde

In Ilidza, Bosnia and Herzegovina, officials marked the 34th anniversary of the Battle of Stojčevac with the unveiling of a monument to seven soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina killed on May 14, 1992. Mayor Nermin Muzur and family members laid flowers and delivered speeches urging preservation of the memory of the fallen. The ceremony included historical presentations, school performances, and the "Haris i Gigi" sports games honoring local heroes.

In Goražde, a performance was held on May 14 to mark the Day of Remembrance for the 151 children killed during the 1992‑1995 war. Participants, including students and members of an amateur theater group, placed white roses on the monument and recited the names of the victims. Organiser Senada Aleta and survivors called for justice, noting that no one has been held accountable for the killings, and highlighted personal stories such as Hajra Liko’s loss of an 18‑month‑old daughter.

Both events underscored ongoing demands for accountability for war crimes and the importance of collective memory in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
