Bosnia and Herzegovina companies sign Human Rights Charter

More than 200 companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina have signed the Charter on Respect for Human Rights. This initiative, part of a corporate social responsibility program, has reached over 4,000 workers.

Supported by the European Union, the program aims to align local business practices with European trends. Mira Mehmedović from the Institute for Youth Development KULT noted that while salary remains vital, employees are increasingly prioritizing dignity, respect, and a healthy work environment. The charter includes 15 principles representing a company's commitment to improving business standards.

The program's first phase, conducted between 2019 and 2022 in collaboration with the Ministry for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina, established framework guidelines. The current phase, running through October 2024, involves developing human rights policies that are expected to be presented to the Council of Ministers for adoption by the end of the year.
