Bosnia and Herzegovina faces rising wood and pellet prices ahead of heating season

Heating‑fuel suppliers in Bosnia and Herzegovina warn that prices for firewood and wood pellets are set to rise further as the cold season approaches. Muhamed Helać of the forestry firm Drvosječa said a cubic metre of split firewood now costs about 148 KM, while a tonne of pellets trades at 680‑720 KM, up from 580‑620 KM a year earlier. The market is strained by a shortage of raw timber, the closure of several production facilities, and higher oil prices that affect logging, transport and processing costs. Helać also noted increasing labour expenses and a shrinking workforce in the sector, factors that could push heating‑fuel costs even higher in the coming months.
