Bosnia and Herzegovina adopts 1.50 KM monthly veteran allowance
The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved amendments to the Law on Rights of War Veterans and their families, creating a monthly "borački dodatak" of 1.50 convertible marks (KM) for each month of service during the 1992‑1995 war.
The benefit is granted equally to members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) and the Ministry of Interior police. Eligibility requires at least one year of service and monthly income below 50 % of the minimum pension; family members of deceased veterans are also covered.
Authorities estimate about 383,500 eligible recipients, with an annual cost of roughly 234.7 million KM. First‑level processing will be handled by municipal or city veteran‑invalidity offices, with special provisions for claimants residing in the Republika Srpska and Brčko District.
The law allows the Federation government to adjust the amount in the future.
