Bosnia and Herzegovina election: Preliminary results for Presidency Council announced

Bosnia and Herzegovina held general elections on October 4, 2026, to elect members of the multi-ethnic Presidency, the national Parliament, and regional leaders. According to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission (CIK) based on over 80-90 percent of counted votes, Denis Becirovic is leading for the Bosniak seat, Darijana Filipovic for the Croat seat, and Zeljka Cvijanovic for the Serb seat.

In the Republika Srpska entity, Savo Minic is leading the race for the Presidency. The election saw a voter turnout of 41.48 percent, which is approximately 10 percentage points lower than the 2022 election cycle.

The voting process faced some challenges, including delays at various polling stations due to the introduction of new digital voting technology. Additionally, authorities reported several incidents of verbal and physical disturbances at polling locations. The election took place amidst significant political tension and ongoing debates regarding the country's future and its path toward European Union membership.
