Bosnia and Herzegovina honors war hero Čedomir Domuz on anniversary

On July 31, a ceremony was held at Brezovače on Mount Igman to mark the 34th anniversary of the death of Čedomir Bato Domuz, a celebrated commander in the defence of Igman during the Bosnian war. The event included the laying of flowers and tributes to the “legendary Vuk of Igman”.

Sarajevo Canton’s minister for veteran affairs, Omer Osmanović, praised Domuz as part of a generation of Bosnian‑Herzegovinian heroes who demonstrated love for the country through action. He highlighted Domuz’s pivotal role in organising the defence of the only land link to the besieged city and noted the highest military decorations he received, including the Golden Lily, the Police Medal for Bravery and the Order of the Golden Coat of Arms with Swords. Domuz is survived by his wife Vesna, son Tea and daughter Sanja.

The ceremony underscored Domuz’s legacy as a symbol of patriotism and sacrifice for Bosnia and Herzegovina, aiming to keep his story alive for future generations.
