Bosnia and Herzegovina ice cream import value rises to 50.3 million KM

Data from the Indirect Taxation Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina reveals that for the first eight months of the year, the country imported nearly 6,500 tons of ice cream and edible frozen products, valued at over 50.3 million KM. While the total volume of imports decreased by 8.9% compared to the previous year, the total value of these imports rose by 10.6%. The largest suppliers are Croatia, providing over 3.1 million kg (valued at nearly 20 million KM), and Serbia, providing approximately 2.6 million kg (valued at 21.69 million KM).

In contrast, domestic producers have increased exports, which rose by 37.2% to a value of 5.63 million KM. Despite this growth, a significant trade gap remains, with the value of ice cream imports exceeding exports by 44.71 million KM.

This trend highlights a broader economic challenge in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the overall trade deficit exceeded eight billion KM in the first seven months of the year. Economic leaders, including Mirsad Jašarspahić of the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasize the importance of supporting domestic products to keep capital within the country and strengthen the local economy.
