Bosnia and Herzegovina marks 34th anniversary of Mostar liberation and 32nd of ARBiH commander Mirsad Crnkić’s death

On 11 June, a ceremony in Mostar commemorated the 34th anniversary of the 1992 “Lipanjske zore” operation that lifted the siege of the city. Veterans, families of the fallen, members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia‑Herzegovina and local officials gathered at the Stanislav Baja Kraljević barracks, laying wreaths, lighting candles and holding a mass. General Stanko Sopta recalled how the operation broke the Serbian encirclement and paved the way for the city’s liberation, noting that 68 Croatian defenders died during the offensive.

On the same day, a separate event in Bosanska Krupa honored the 32nd anniversary of the death of ARBiH commander Mirsad Crnkić and his aide Nihad Bužimkić, killed in June 1994. Delegates, including Cantonal premier Mustafa Ružnić, placed flowers at the central martyrs’ memorial and visited Crnkić’s family home, praising his wartime leadership and posthumous award of the “Golden Lily”. Both commemorations underscored the ongoing remembrance of the Bosnian War’s sacrifices.
