Bosnia and Herzegovina officials denounce justice gaps and rule on Dodik appeal

Bosnian Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković announced that the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina rejected an appeal by members of the Republika Srpska parliamentary assembly that sought to challenge recent changes to the election law imposed by former High Representative Christian Schmidt. Konaković said the court’s decision confirms the final and legal nature of the High Representative’s rulings, adds that former Republika Srpska president Milorad Dodik will not be eligible to run in upcoming elections, and described the outcome as the end of a "circus".

Radan Ostojić, president of the Borac Organization of Republika Srpska (BORS), criticised the Bosnian justice system, stating that “rights and justice have become an illusion for Serbs.” He highlighted the lack of prosecutions for crimes committed against Serbian civilians and former Yugoslav People's Army members, referencing the anniversary of the Tuzla column victims. Ostojić called for institutions to preserve historical memory and ensure equitable justice.

Both officials underscored deep political and judicial tensions within Bosnia and Herzegovina, accusing state institutions of selective accountability and stressing the need for comprehensive legal and institutional reform.
