Bosnia and Herzegovina proposes higher import duty exemption threshold

The Administrative Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted a proposal to increase the value threshold for exemption from import and export duties. The threshold would rise from 30,000 KM to 45,000 KM, representing a 50 percent increase.

This adjustment aims to align the threshold with inflation rates in Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on official consumer price index data from the Agency for Statistics. The change is intended to account for rising product prices and procurement costs, as the threshold had remained unchanged for several years.

The new regulations are not yet in effect. For the changes to be implemented, the proposal must be reviewed and approved by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina during one of its upcoming sessions. The exemption applies only to specific, predefined categories and cases as established by the decision.
