Bosnia and Herzegovina road traffic faces delays from construction and border queues

Road traffic in Bosnia and Herzegovina is experiencing significant disruptions due to extensive construction projects and seasonal congestion. On the A-1 highway, several sections are affected, including the Golubinja-Nemila sub-section which is closed, and the Lašva-Kakanj section where traffic is diverted to the opposite side of the motorway. A new 7-kilometer section of the Corridor Vc motorway between Doboj Jug and Medakovo has opened and will be free of toll charges until September 2, 2026.

Border crossings are also seeing increased wait times. Long queues are reported at the Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Gradina, and Hum exits from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Deleuša crossing is experiencing delays for vehicles entering the country. Delays at borders may be exacerbated by the implementation of the new EU Entry/Exit System (EES).

In Republika Srpska, motorists are warned of potential landslides in mountainous areas and various roadworks causing traffic changes on major routes such as the Klašnice–Šargovac–Banja Luka line. Additionally, a tourist train service running along the Una river between Bihać and Bosanska Krupa has seen high demand, carrying over 10,500 passengers since its introduction in June.
