Overview

Infrastructure development and maintenance continue to cause widespread traffic disruptions across Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the A-1 motorway, the Kakanj-Lašva section remains closed, with traffic being diverted to the opposite side of the motorway. The Nemila-Vranduk section remains closed, specifically the Golubinja-Nemila sub-section, which reroutes vehicles to the M-17 highway.

Significant disruptions persist on the Foča-Sarajevo highway, where heavy vehicle traffic is suspended due to a landslide and bridge issues in Tuhalji. Other ongoing works affecting the A-1 include the Počitelj-Bijača and Sarajevo zapad-Lepenica sections. Additionally, bridge expansions are underway on the Brčko-Bijeljina route, and construction on bridges and roundabouts is affecting routes near Bijeljina and Lončari-Pelagićevo.

Weight restrictions continue on the Dobro Polje-Miljevina and Jablanica-Blidinje routes, limiting traffic to vehicles under 3.5 tons. In Republika Srpska, bans on freight vehicles exceeding 7.5 tons remain in effect on key routes between Bijeljina, Brčko, Šamac, and Modriča, as well as the Gradiška-Banjaluka highway.

Safety concerns are heightened by wet, slippery road conditions and increased risks of landslides in mountainous areas. As the winter season approaches, authorities reiterate that the mandatory period for winter equipment, running from November 1 to April 1, requires winter tires on all four wheels or winter tires on drive wheels combined with snow chains. Summer tires are only permitted if the tread depth is at least 4mm and chains are available for drive wheels. Non-compliance can result in fines of 40 KM for individuals, while legal entities face penalties ranging from 500 to 5,000 KM. Authorities have also warned that vehicles covered in snow or ice may be removed from traffic.
