Bosnia and Herzegovina sees SBB resurgence in Krajina and high‑representative talks

The Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBB) has re‑entered the electoral race in the Una‑Sana Canton (Krajina) ahead of the October general elections. Party leader Fahrudin Radončić announced a new candidate list that includes former Una National Park director Amarildo Mulić, ex‑minister of police Šefik Smlatić and former SDP delegate Željko Mirković, aiming to mobilise local figures who feel marginalized by central party structures. The move follows a visit by Presidency member Denis Bećirović, who toured Cazin and Bihać, stressing cooperation for citizens in the region.

At the same time, Bosniak minister Elmedin Konaković said that negotiations on appointing a new High Representative – the chief international overseer of the Dayton system – are close to a breakthrough between the European Union and the United States. He stressed that the Office of the High Representative must retain its authority in Sarajevo and warned against attempts to reduce its mandate. Konaković also criticised the Council of Ministers’ performance, highlighted the coalition of the People’s Party, the Democratic Front and the SDP (“Trojka”), and noted ongoing tensions over secessionist proposals from Bosnian Serb leaders.
