Bosnia commemorates 34th anniversary of Nevesinje and Višegrad war atrocities

From 14 June to early July, Bosnia and Herzegovina will observe the 34th anniversary of the 1992 Nevesinje massacres. A central Memorial March of Remembrance is scheduled for 27‑28 June, beginning in Mostar and passing through Podveležje, Velež, Sopilji and other sites where civilians were killed. Organiser Asim Brajević said the march will "start from the area of Mostar and, via Podveležje and Velež, head towards Sopilji, the route the Nevesinjans used in the hardest days of 1992". Speeches are planned from families, religious leaders and university researchers, and the ceremony will conclude with the Bosnian national anthem.

In Višegrad, the same anniversary is marked by a solemn ceremony at the former house on Pionirska Street where 70 Bosniak civilians were burned alive. Families laid flowers, recited prayers and urged anyone with information on missing remains to come forward. The court convictions are noted: Milan Lukić received a life sentence, Sredoje Lukić 27 years and Radomir Šušnjar 20 years. Organisers emphasized the need to keep the memory alive and to seek justice for the victims.
