Bosnia files criminal complaint over pro‑genocide Facebook comment on Srebrenica anniversary

On 12 July 2026, the 31st anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre—recognised by international courts as genocide—media in the region highlighted the solemn remembrance. In the same week, Ervin Ćustović posted on Facebook that he had filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The complaint concerns a comment posted beneath a video titled “Never forget – Srebrenica – July 1995 – GENOCIDE”, in which the author wrote: “We proudly killed and raped and would be honored to do it again.”

The comment originated from a Facebook profile called “Bane Glogovac”, which earlier displayed a photo of a person in a Republika Srpska police uniform. The identity of the profile’s operator remains unknown. Ćustović supplied screenshots, the link to the post, and other digital evidence, urging prosecutors, police and Meta to preserve the data for identification and possible prosecution. The authorities will decide whether to open an investigation based on the submitted material.
