Bosnia-Herzegovina Croat Presidency race: HDZ expects Croats to elect their own candidate
Ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina's upcoming general elections, HDZ BiH president Dragan Čović and opposition leader Ilija Cvitanović said they are confident that Croat voters will be able to elect a legitimate Croat member of the tripartite Presidency without Bosniak-majority interference.
They highlighted the two main candidates – HDZ‑backed Darijana Filipović and opposition‑coalition nominee Zdenko Lučić – and warned that in previous elections Bosniak voters, who outnumber Croats, helped elect Željko Komšić. The leaders called for electoral reform to prevent a larger electorate from choosing a representative of a smaller community.
