Bosnia veteran union seeks legal fix for soldiers under three years service

The President (Sabahudin Ramić) and Vice‑President (Munir Karić) of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Veterans' Association met with Federal Minister of Labour and Social Policy Adnan Delić to address concerns arising from recent amendments to the pension and disability insurance law. The changes, while affecting the general pension system, have created inconsistencies for veterans with less than three years of service, leading to public confusion about their entitlements.

The veterans’ representatives emphasized that the labour ministry does not have jurisdiction over veteran‑specific rights, which are governed by separate defence‑related legislation. They requested the minister’s support in coordinating a legal solution that would reconcile the pension law with existing veteran statutes to ensure adequate protection for this group. Minister Delić confirmed the ministry will continue to provide institutional backing for proposals issued by the competent defence ministry.

Both parties expressed readiness to cooperate with the relevant institutions to draft the necessary amendments and eliminate the observed legal gaps.
