Bosnian cities commemorate liberation anniversaries
Bosnian cities Bosanska Krupa and Goražde are holding commemorations to mark their respective liberation days and city anniversaries.
In Bosanska Krupa, officials are observing the 31st anniversary of the city's liberation. The program included tributes at the Central Martyr Memorial and a formal session of the City Council. Mayor Armin Halitović spoke about the city's wartime struggles and its subsequent reconstruction following the liberation on September 17, 1995.
Goražde is marking the anniversary of its liberation, which also serves as the Day of the Bosnia-Podrinje Canton and Goražde City. Delegations honored fallen defenders at various monuments, including the memorial for the city's defenders and the memorial for commander Zaim Imamović. The commemorations highlight the 1992 military operations ‘Krug’ and ‘Drina’, which broke the siege of the city and liberated significant territory, preventing a humanitarian catastrophe.
