Marco Rubio to visit India and Uzbekistan to strengthen strategic and energy ties

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to undertake a diplomatic tour of Uzbekistan and India from October 17 to 22. The visit will begin in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where Rubio will participate in the C5+1 Ministerial meeting to discuss strategic cooperation and regional security with Central Asian leaders.

In India, Rubio will visit Mumbai and Jamnagar to strengthen the US-India strategic partnership. Discussions are expected to focus on enhancing energy cooperation and economic ties. A key component of the itinerary is Jamnagar, home to the Reliance Industries refinery, one of the world's largest single-site refining facilities. Rubio will also meet with senior government officials and business leaders to promote commercial investment.

Separately, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković has formally requested that US institutions investigate lobbying activities by Republika Srpska. Konaković expressed concern that public funds from the entity are being used to influence US politics and promote independence from Bosnia and Herzegovina. This follows a ruling by the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina prohibiting the use of public funds for lobbying that contradicts the state's constitution.
