Botad gains Vande Bharat connectivity via new Gandhigram route
The Botad district in Gujarat has gained direct Vande Bharat connectivity following a route change approved by the Railway Board. The Sabarmati-Veraval service began operating via the Gandhigram-Botad route on August 17.
The revised alignment, which replaces the previous route through Viramgam, Surendranagar, and Rajkot, aims to provide a more direct connection between Ahmedabad and destinations in the Saurashtra region. The service includes a permanent halt at Chital in the Amreli district.
In addition to the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat service, electric train operations have also commenced on the Botad-Gandhigram railway route, intended to improve travel speed and convenience for students, traders, and travelers heading to Somnath.
