Botafogo undergoes squad restructuring and coaching evaluation

Botafogo is undergoing a significant squad restructuring following its elimination from the Copa Sudamericana and the dismissal of coach Franclim Carvalho. The club is working to reduce its wage bill through several player departures.

Forward Matheus Martins has been sold to Dynamo Moscow in Russia for approximately R$ 42 million. Additionally, the club is advancing negotiations to sell midfielder Santiago Rodríguez to the United States' Columbus Crew. Rodríguez has reportedly agreed to personal terms for a long-term contract. Meanwhile, the club has rejected interest in 19-year-old Argentine midfielder Álvaro Montoro.

Regarding coaching, the club is evaluating its next steps. While a new head coach is being sought, there is a possibility that Rodrigo Bellão, the current U-20 coach, may remain in his position or be officially appointed until the end of the year. This decision is subject to upcoming discussions with new SAF investor Gabriel de Alba and will depend on the team's performance in upcoming matches against Athletico-PR, Flamengo, and Palmeiras.
