12-year-old girl dies after traffic crash in Mureșenii Bârgăului, Romania

On 15 June, a 59‑year‑old driver from Răchiţi, Botoșani, lost control of his car on DN 17 near Mureșenii Bârgăului, entered the opposite lane and then the sidewalk, striking three pedestrians – a 12‑year‑old girl, an 11‑year‑old girl and a 31‑year‑old woman. The 12‑year‑old, identified as Raluca, was found in cardiac arrest, resuscitated on site and air‑lifted to a hospital in Târgu Mureș, where she later died from her injuries. The other two victims were hospitalized with non‑life‑threatening injuries. The driver tested negative for alcohol or drugs, with authorities noting possible panic symptoms; a criminal case has been opened and the investigation continues.

Emergency services deployed three SMURD crews, a helicopter and local fire units. The injured pedestrians were transported to the Bistrița County Emergency Hospital. Police from the Bistrița‑Năsăud Road Service and the Rural Police Section documented the scene and are seeking the precise cause of the loss of vehicle control.
