Border security continues to be a priority. Authorities have intercepted significant shipments of counterfeit goods and contraband cigarettes from Turkey and Moldova. Simultaneously, Romanian border police have participated in large-scale international efforts, such as FRONTEX-coordinated operations in the Mediterranean, resulting in hundreds of rescues.

Recent enforcement actions have also targeted high-profile cybercriminals and sophisticated fraud. In Sinaia, police arrested Mihai Ionuț Păunescu, a notorious hacker known as ‘Virus,’ who was previously convicted in the United States for distributing malware that infected systems at NASA.
