Cambridgeshire zoo crocodile enclosure incident: Boy discharged from hospital

A three-year-old boy has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home following a serious incident at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a zoo near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. On June 18, the child was allegedly thrown into a crocodile enclosure, resulting in severe injuries including a broken arm and pelvis, as well as nerve, tendon, and blood vessel damage.

The boy underwent seven operations, including a 12-hour surgery and a nerve graft to regain control of his left hand. His family reported that while he is settling back in and playing with his toys, his rehabilitation journey continues. A GoFundMe page established to support the family has raised over £113,000 to assist with medical costs and loss of wages.

A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was later released on bail after being assessed as not being fit for interview. The suspect reportedly has learning difficulties and was on a trip with carers at the time of the incident; an investigation into his care is currently underway.
