Boyacá reports record attendance for 2026 FICC festival

The Boyacá government has released the official balance for the 2026 International Festival of Peasant Culture (FICC), reporting record attendance and sales. The festival drew 247,000 attendees across more than 400 events in 30 municipalities, with approximately 45% of participants attending for the first time.

To address emergency needs, officials redirected funds originally intended for large-scale concerts toward forest fire relief in Villa de Leyva and Chíquiza. Of the 8 billion pesos allocated for concerts, 3.8 billion pesos were used to combat the fires.

The CosechArte fair saw significant growth, recording 1.514 billion pesos in sales and 130,529 visitors, a 64% increase compared to 2025.

Simultaneously, the Villa del Cine Festival 2026 is concluding its 12th edition, titled ‘Caminos del Tiempo’, in Villa de Leyva. The festival featured 68 competing works from 28 countries, including screenings of restored films and tributes to regional cinematic history.
