BPJS Kesehatan introduces new control‑letter rules and clarifies three‑month FKTP change policy

BPJS Kesehatan warned participants that control letters (surat kontrol) must be issued by authorized referral hospitals or clinics and cannot be generated on a participant’s request. The letters, valid for a single follow‑up visit, will no longer be issued on the same day as service starting 1 September 2026. Muhammad Aras, head of BPJS Kesehatan’s Surabaya branch, explained the two situations that trigger a control letter: post‑inpatient monitoring and continued outpatient care based on a doctor's assessment.

The agency also reiterated its policy on changing a participant’s primary health facility (FKTP). Rizzky Anugerah, BPJS Kesehatan’s public relations chief, said participants may normally request a new FKTP after staying three months at their current one, to ensure continuity of care. Exceptions apply for relocations, work assignments, or family moves, allowing earlier changes without the waiting period. The rules aim to balance service quality, patient monitoring, and equitable distribution of participants across facilities.
