BPJS Ketenagakerjaan pays JHT benefits to 125,000 laid-off workers

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan reported that 125,000 workers who experienced layoffs (PHK) have received Old Age Security (JHT) benefits as of July 31, 2026. Of these, 31,000 workers also received Job Loss Insurance (JKP) benefits, which provide cash assistance, labor market information, and job training.

Regarding fund accessibility, active participants are permitted to withdraw partial JHT balances without resigning. Under government regulations, participants with at least 10 years of membership can withdraw 10% for general retirement preparation or 30% specifically for housing needs, such as cash purchases or mortgage schemes.

On a broader economic scale, data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) indicated a decrease in the national unemployment rate. In May 2026, the open unemployment rate fell to 4.65%, down from 4.68% in February 2026, representing a reduction of approximately 24,000 unemployed individuals.
