BPOM revokes permits for stamina supplements containing new chemical ingredient

The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) has revoked the distribution permits for three natural stamina enhancement products—EXIE, YUBOKKI, and DURAMAX—manufactured by PT Bintang Kupu-Kupu in Tangerang. These products were found to contain pyrimidenafil, a new type of drug chemical ingredient (BKO) that blocks the PDE5 enzyme to increase blood flow, similar to sildenafil.

BPOM officials noted that the use of pyrimidenafil represents a shift in tactics by unscrupulous producers attempting to evade detection by using chemical derivatives with different structures than common substances like sildenafil or tadalafil.

In broader surveillance efforts, BPOM identified dozens of other illegal natural medicine and supplement products containing various hazardous substances, including sildenafil, sibutramine, dexamethasone, and paracetamol. Some products were found to be unregistered or using falsified distribution permit numbers, posing significant health risks due to the lack of regulated dosage and potential fatal side effects.
