Bpost faces financial and management challenges in Belgium
Bpost, the Belgian state-owned postal service, is facing significant financial and management challenges. The company, which is 51 percent owned by the federal state through the Federal Holding and Participation Company, is struggling with a series of unsuccessful international acquisitions, including the American e-commerce firm Radial.
In addition to these acquisitions, the company has lost its newspaper contract and has faced issues regarding improper state aid and the previous sale of Postbank to BNP Paribas Fortis. Internal tensions are also rising, evidenced by frequent strikes and protests from its 33,000 employees, signaling a strained relationship between management and staff.
