BR-304 highway duplication: first 10 km to open in Rio Grande do Norte
The first 10 kilometers of the BR-304 highway duplication project between Assú and Mossoró will be opened to traffic this Wednesday, the 30th. This segment represents approximately 17% of the 57.6-kilometer first stage of the expansion project.
The project, managed by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) with state government oversight, involves an investment of approximately 376 million reais. The work includes the construction of a new parallel track with two lanes to increase capacity and improve safety for the roughly 50,000 vehicles that travel through the region daily.
Construction began in March following a service order issued in late January, with a 24-month execution deadline. Current progress reports indicate that terrain cleaning is 50% complete, earthmoving is at 40%, and drainage work is near 30%. The broader expansion plan also includes 38.1 kilometers between Macaíba and Riachuelo.
