Infrastructure development in Rio Grande do Norte
Overview
The Costa Branca region in Rio Grande do Norte is seeing significant infrastructure development across the energy and transport sectors.
In the energy sector, R$ 72 million is being invested in gas and water supply projects. A key component is the R$ 34.5 million Polo Gás Sal project by Companhia Potiguar de Gás, which installed 52 kilometers of pipelines between Mossoró and Areia Branca. This project aims to provide up to 40,000 cubic meters of natural gas per day to industries, commercial entities, and residents, reducing reliance on truck-transported LPG.
Simultaneously, road infrastructure is being expanded through the BR-304 highway duplication project. Managed by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), this R$ 376 million initiative involves constructing a new parallel track to improve safety and capacity for approximately 50,000 daily vehicles. The first 10-kilometer segment of the 57.6-kilometer first stage is scheduled to open to traffic soon.
