Brandenburg to create over 100 new judicial positions

The state of Brandenburg is implementing a plan to strengthen its judiciary through significant personnel and technical upgrades. Following a cabinet decision on September 1, 2026, the state budget includes provisions for more than 100 new positions to improve efficiency and accessibility.

Justice Minister Benjamin Grimm met with court leaders to discuss challenges including staffing, the preservation of court locations, ongoing construction projects, and digitalization. The expansion aims to recruit not only judges and prosecutors but also judicial officers, administrative staff, and technical infrastructure specialists. The ministry emphasized the importance of maintaining all existing court locations to ensure judicial services remain reachable across the state's various regions.
