Overview

The state of Brandenburg is undertaking significant administrative reforms to strengthen its legal and security infrastructure.

In early September 2026, the state government announced plans to create over 100 new judicial positions. This initiative, aimed at improving efficiency and accessibility, includes recruiting judges, prosecutors, administrative staff, and technical specialists to support digitalization and maintain existing court locations.

Following this, the state announced a reorganization of its police force through the establishment of a State Police Headquarters (Landespolizeipräsidium). This reform seeks to integrate existing police departments to eliminate overlapping responsibilities and expand the force to 9,000 positions. The restructuring also includes the creation of a 360-degree security center designed to coordinate security and emergency services against complex challenges such as cybercrime and hybrid threats.
