Los Angeles Clippers face penalties and major injuries
The Los Angeles Clippers are facing a period of significant instability following a series of organizational penalties and player injuries. During media day, interim president of basketball operations Trent Redden apologized to fans for the franchise’s recent turmoil, which included a $30 million NBA fine and the loss of five first-round draft picks due to salary cap violations involving Kawhi Leonard.
Compounding these administrative challenges, the team announced several major player injuries. Brandon Ingram, acquired from the Toronto Raptors in the Leonard trade, will miss the start of the season after doctors discovered a partially torn Achilles tendon during surgery on his right heel in May. Ingram described his recovery as a ‘week-by-week thing.’
Other roster setbacks include shooting guard Bradley Beal, who will miss the start of training camp due to knee inflammation, and Jordan Miller, who is sidelined for months following surgery to repair a torn left rotator cuff. These absences leave the Clippers to navigate the beginning of the 2026-27 season with depleted depth.
