Brașov to rebuild Tâmpa Belvedere platform

The Belvedere platform on Tâmpa Mountain, one of Romania’s most photographed panoramic points, will be rebuilt after being closed for safety reasons. The structure was deemed at risk of collapse, prompting the Local Committee for Emergency Situations (CLSU) to restrict access.

Mayor George Scripcaru signed a contract worth over one million lei with a Brașov‑based construction firm to design and erect a new laminated‑wood platform. The project also includes cadastral and heritage registration work for the former structure, which dates back to the early 1900s as part of the Bethlen restaurant complex. Works are slated to be completed within three months.

The original platform, built around 1905, survived the 1977 fire that destroyed the restaurant and has since served as the city’s main viewpoint. Until the new platform is finished, visitors can still view Brașov from the summit of Tâmpa.
