Brașov infrastructure development

In mid‑2026 Brașov advanced two major public‑works projects. By late July, the new multipurpose hall—one of Romania’s largest sports venues—was more than 70 % complete. Funded by the Ministry of Development, the National Investment Company and the city, the 11,211‑seat complex incorporates photovoltaic panels, solar collectors, geothermal probes and smart energy‑management systems, with a hand‑over scheduled for June 2027.

A week later, the city announced the reconstruction of the historic Belvedere platform on Tâmpa Mountain after safety concerns forced its closure. Mayor George Scripcaru signed a contract worth over one million lei with a local builder to erect a new laminated‑wood platform and complete related cadastral and heritage work within three months. The project restores a viewpoint dating back to the early 1900s and aims to reopen the popular summit for visitors.

Both initiatives illustrate Brașov’s focus on upgrading civic facilities, combining modern sustainability measures with the preservation of historic landmarks.
