Mayara Stephany dies after fatal attack by ex-partner in Brasília

Mayara Stephany Varela de Almeida Sousa, 30, has died following a fatal attack by her former partner in Candangolândia, Distrito Federal. The victim was shot in the head and chest during an assault on Thursday night.

Security footage captured the suspect, 40-year-old André Eduardo Alves da Silva, physically assaulting the victim with punches and kicks before firing the shots. The suspect, who is the father of Mayara’s three-year-old daughter, fled the scene and remains at large. The Civil Police of the Federal District are currently searching for him.

Mayara’s family reported that she had previously filed police reports regarding verbal abuse and insults. The victim had also recently sought legal action regarding child support payments. The case is being investigated as feminicide.
