Bratislava man detained after threatening neighbors with an axe

A man was detained by police in the Vlčí hrdel area of Bratislava's Ružinov district after allegedly threatening neighbors with an axe on Saturday evening. The incident occurred after 8:00 PM on August 22.

A local family, including a nine-year-old child, reported a long-standing conflict with the man, who reportedly lives in a rental property. The neighbors stated that the individual had previously subjected them to verbal abuse and threats. During this latest confrontation, a woman reported seeing the man holding an axe, prompting her to lock her gate and flee into her home to call for help.

Witnesses noted that the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and has a history of mental health issues, including a previous hospitalization in a psychiatric facility. This follows a prior incident in May of the previous year at the Slovak Medical University, where the same individual was detained for brandishing an object resembling a firearm and making threats. Three police patrols responded to the Saturday night incident and took the man into custody for questioning.
