Braunschweig and Göttingen face road closures for infrastructure repairs

Infrastructure maintenance projects in Lower Saxony will lead to several road closures starting October 12, 2026.

In the Braunschweig-Südwest motorway junction, the Autobahn GmbH des Bundes is conducting renovations across six sections. From October 12 to October 26, the connector from the A391 to the A39 toward Salzgitter and the B248 toward Rüningen will be closed. Additionally, exits from the A39 toward the B248 from Wolfsburg and toward Westerbergstraße from Salzgitter will be unavailable. Diversions are in place, including the use of the Wolfsburg-Königslutter junction for certain routes.

In the Göttingen district, six district roads (K 1, K 50, K 31, K 29, K 30, and K 29) are scheduled for resurfacing during the autumn holidays, between October 12 and October 25. Each specific section will be closed for up to three days. Because asphalt work is weather-dependent, the exact timing and sequence of these closures may change.
