Brazil adds 145,000 formal jobs in June, Caged data show

According to the Novo Caged report released by Brazil's Ministry of Labor and Employment, the country created 145,161 formal jobs in June 2026. This brings the total number of formal jobs generated in the first half of the year to 921,645 and to 963,921 over the past 12 months. All five major economic sectors posted gains, led by services with 74,514 new positions, followed by agriculture (22,898), commerce (19,177), industry (14,438) and construction (14,136). São Paulo state recorded the highest monthly increase with 34,981 jobs, while Minas Gerais (20,805) and Rio de Janeiro (16,856) also posted strong gains.

In the municipality of Marília, the first half of 2026 saw a net rise of 438 formal jobs, reaching a total of 71,126 workers. The city recorded 20,190 hires and 19,752 separations, a 0.62% increase in its formal employment stock. June, however, showed a contraction of 341 jobs, with the services sector losing 293 positions and industry a loss of 94. Over the semester, industry was the main driver of job creation in Marília, adding 424 jobs, while services contributed 170 and construction 75.
