Brazil adjusts 2027 budget to include R$ 27.7 billion in new expenses
The Brazilian federal government is adjusting its 2027 budget proposal to accommodate R$ 27.7 billion in new expenses. These adjustments include updated cost estimates for the Bolsa Família program, which requires an additional R$ 22.7 billion, and the Desenrola 3.0 program, estimated at R$ 5 billion.
On the revenue side, the government anticipates a loss of R$ 5.3 billion in 2027 due to the end of betting regulations. The economic team intends to reallocate funds within the Annual Budget Bill (PLOA) to ensure these costs remain within the established fiscal framework limits.
The original PLOA, submitted on August 31, projects a primary surplus of R$ 73.2 billion (0.5% of GDP) for 2027. Even accounting for specific exceptions in fiscal rules, the government expects an effective surplus of approximately R$ 18.6 billion.
