Brazil allocates R$5.2 billion to states, municipalities and Federal District from Fundeb

Brazil's Ministry of Education, through the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE), transferred R$5,196,549,900 to the accounts of all states, municipalities and the Federal District on 30 June. The disbursement is the sixth instalment of the 2026 Union complement to the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education (Fundeb), intended exclusively for the maintenance and development of public basic education.

The funds support teacher remuneration, school infrastructure improvements, student transport and acquisition of teaching materials. Allocation amounts were calculated based on the number of enrollments reported in the latest school census. For 2026 the Union's complement to Fundeb is projected at R$69.3 billion, with the current year’s total transfers already exceeding R$34.2 billion.
