Brazil and Paraguay establish joint health actions for border regions

Brazil and Paraguay have established new protocols for coordinated health actions in their border regions. Following the V Meeting on Health in the Brazil-Paraguay Borders in Campo Grande, the resulting ‘Campo Grande Charter’ outlines measures for data integration, vaccination efforts, and responses to arboviruses.

Key initiatives include the sharing of strategic, anonymized, and georeferenced data to improve decision-making. The countries plan to utilize a Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) platform to enhance the visualization of arbovirus information across border territories.

A dedicated working group has also been formed to address health services between Carmelo Peralta in Upper Paraguay and Porto Murtinho in Mato Grosso do Sul. This coordination aims to prepare health networks for increased movement of people and goods expected with the operation of the Bioceanic Route and a new international bridge.
