Spain eliminates Brazil from U-20 Women's World Cup

Spain eliminated Brazil from the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup following a 1-0 victory in the quarter-finals held at Arena Sosnowiec, Poland. The decisive goal was scored by Pau Comendador in the 26th or 27th minute of the first half, following a cross from Rosalia Domínguez that deflected off Brazilian defender Thay.

Brazil, coached by Camilla Orlando, had entered the match undefeated in the group stage with wins over Tanzania, Canada, and England, and had recently advanced past the United States in a penalty shootout during the round of 16. Despite increasing offensive pressure in the second half and making tactical substitutions, Brazil was unable to find an equalizer against Spanish goalkeeper Laia López.

With this win, Spain maintains a perfect record in the tournament and advances to the semi-finals to face Italy. Spain is currently seeking its second U-20 World Cup title, having previously won in 2022.
